About the Antique Sign Authenticators:

Dan Matthews and Joey Whiteside formed The Authentication Company LLC after both had discussed the idea of marking and identifying advertising antiques as a means for ensuring their originality & authenticity. 

TAC owners Dan and Joey are highly-sought experts in authenticating antiques. It is their passion and they travel throughout the country to ensure the value of these beloved collectables. 

 

Dan Matthews

Owner and operator of The Authentication Company, LLC “TAC”. Specializing in the authentication of Petroliana, Automobilia, and antique advertising items.

Dan is a licensed auctioneer in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and New Hampshire. His business associations include: The National Auctioneer Association, Illinois Auctioneer Association, and New Hampshire Auctioneer Association. Dan is working towards an ISA (International Society of Appraisal) degree.

Joey Whiteside

Partner and operator of The Authentication Company LLC “TAC”. Specializing in the authentication of petroliana, automobilia and antique advertising items.

Joey has been a lifelong collector. As a kid, he collected and sold sports cards at local flea markets and card shops. Fond memories of his childhood and the simpler times then brought about his interest in the advertising hobby. Joey’s first sign was simply a street sign found with his wife in SC with the name of their pet bulldog Sampson. As the years progressed he began collecting more signs as well as selling signs on eBay, online via Petrojoe.com, at shows, and directly to clients. Joey has a degree in Public Relations from Appalachian State University with minor(s) in Business and Psychology. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Olivia Pleasants Whiteside, since 2003. They have 4 children who also enjoy antiques and collecting. Joey enjoys spending time with his wife and 4 children, coaching various youth sports teams in Polk County, NC, hunting for advertising and Ford Mustangs.
